Roundup China swing cancelled – seven tournaments on the WTA Tour (including the WTA Finals in Shenzhen) and four events on the ATP Tour. Citi Open, the tournament due to restart the men’s tour on 13 August, also cancelled. Men’s tour will now resume in New York at the Western & Southern Open on 22 August. Women’s tour kicks off in Palermo on 3 August.

The Williams sisters, Sloane Stephens and Coco Gauff, among others, have all committed to play the Top Seed Open in Kentucky from 10 August.

Felix Auger-Aliassime is playing in the second edition of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown (UTS2). The Canadian receives direct entry into the semi-finals. Heather Watson is playing in the Battle of the Brits Team event. The British No 2 is on the Union Jacks team alongside the Murray brothers.

This Time Last Year Mikael Ymer secured his second ATP Challenger Tour title of 2019 in Tampere, Finland. A 17-year-old Hailey Baptiste, who was also a WTA Tour debutant, beat fellow American Madison Keys 7-6, 6-2 in the first round in Washington (Lucy was not surprised).
