Lucy and Eugene reveal their moments of the season, including players of the year, tournament of the year, match of the year and close with some shout outs

Moments of the Season Serena Williams’ first title as a mother in Auckland; Gael Monfils’ going back-to-back indoors; corona; black players speaking up against racial inequality; the GOAT sharing our post to her Instagram story; Naomi Osaka pausing tennis for a day and then securing the US Open; and there’s more.

Players of the Year We both agreed who the winner was on the women’s side. Had different winners on the men’s side, though. Hear us out.

Tournament of the Year The US Open in the New York bubble was the best post-lockdown tournament of 2020. From Osaka winning in such poignant style, to the likes of Frances Tiafoe and Felix Auger-Aliassime enjoying career-best results, not forgetting the amount of black entrants, especially in the women’s draw… we thoroughly enjoyed.

Match of the Year Lucy went with Osaka’s US Open semi-final showdown against Jennifer Brady. Eugene went with Auger-Aliassime’s second-round match at Flushing Meadows against Andy Murray.

Shout Outs We close the show by shouting out a few individuals who have shared their time with us over the course of the year:

·      Curtis Clarke, Jay Clarke’s coach and big bro (our first-ever interview)

·      WTA player Sachia Vickery

·      Rodney Rapson from Exo-Tennis

·      Former ATP and WTA coach, Juandell Brunner

·      Former American college tennis player, Rohan Wattley

·      Zack Evenden, Frances Tiafoe’s coach

·      Guest co-hosts, Tumaini Carayol and Anne-Marie Batson

We appreciate you guys!

To our listeners, thank you for giving us your ear for the past nine months. It’s been a pleasure recording these episodes and we look forward to bringing you more pods next season.
